THE DON STOUT CHARLOTTE 49ERS SOCCER SCHOLARSHIP
The Don Stout Charlotte 49ers Soccer Scholarship is being established to honor the memory of a great friend and supporter of the Charlotte 49ers athletic program. Prior to his death in 2011, Don was a mainstay at almost all home Charlotte 49ers events and even many road games. He was affectionately known by many as the “Mayor”, a tribute to his always friendly demeanor and willingness to talk with anyone.
His passion was both the men’s and women’s soccer teams, having developed valued friendships with players and coaches over the years. Don’s close friends Dr. Steve Eyler, Dr. Rick Zuber and Don’s family have provided support to establish an endowed scholarship in honor of Don.
The endowed fund will provide scholarship support to two well deserving Charlotte 49ers student-athletes - one on the Men’s Soccer team and one on the Women’s Soccer team on an annual basis in perpetuity.
